LIFE = RISKS, BUSINESS=RISKS
LIFE DOES NOT END WHEN YOUU DIE... IT ENDS WHEN YOU GIVE UP.
Take risks by accepting them, however, your ultimate goal is reducing them.
Most business organizations hide behind the probabilities of a disaster happening in order to
save money in OPEX to support an IT recovery program. It is understandable but, it comes with a huge risk.
What if?. What if it really happens? Well, you lose everything!
Going back to life=risk adverb...
Your business organization ended/died way before the disaster striking...
The business ended when they (stakeholders) gave up on accepting the risks and investing to reduce them.

On June 16th, 2023 thousands of TD Bank customers of North America’s salary automate On June 16th, 2023 thousands of TD Bank customers of North America’s salary automated direct deposits did not make it through their bank accounts!
EXPECTED THE UNEXPECTED
Guess what! And Why?… hum let me think…. Tcharannnn….. due to technical outages https://www.narcity.com/td-bank-issue-direct-deposits-outage-canadians-arent-getting-paid
Not good.. We r in digital and Cloud era. TD is one of the largest bank in Canada and serve customers in USA. Services applications are hosted through web servers and other IT infrastructure components.
TD has no excuses of having SPOF (single Point of Failures).. The answer is simple… No enhanced Disaster Recovery Plan… I doubt TD has no such resiliency program in place. I bet they do. Then what could have happened? We will never find out.
I can speculate one single possibility: HUMAN Error
Human errors contribute to a great % of IT outages:
- Unhappy employees,
- broken compliance processes guidance’s
- Weak support of compliance from the upper management
May be the resiliency program has not been well maintained and tested.
– Upper management overlooks and underestimates the importance of a resiliency program
– TD Bank employees, especially those in IT department have no Disaster Recovery MINDSET, TRAINING,….etc
All these speculations are attributed to HUMAN ERRORS!
@TD BANK Stakeholders, please threat your IT resiliency program as your day-to-day live services!
I have got my pay today! thanks to @ another Canadian Bank
TD Your reputation is at stake.
Humanize your employees with the right IT recovery Program
